I'm not familiar with these type of Japanese games, but I found this one to be intriguing nonetheless. I've looked around on gamefaqs and trueachievements, but their guides don't seem to match up with what I'm doing. For example, gamefaqs guide shows that I should unlock 'Battle of Nagashino - Redux' already, as well as several other redux missions, but nothing I do seems to unlock them and I can't find a straight answer on why that might be. After every mission, I switch out every character to see if there is someone new to talk to. That's opened only a couple missions so far. I'd love to find a well written guide so that I can open every mission, find every character, level them all up, and finish 100% without missing anything/anyone.

Like I said, I'm totally new to these games. I played Dynasty Warriors 2 or 3 several years ago and it was so boring I gave up on the genre all together. But this game seems good enough that I'm willing to give it a shot. You say to stick with the recommended party, but I've seen guides that say to stick to your favorite three.

I guess that wouldn't matter much if I beat the stage initially with the recommended party. As for the redux stages, I have some unlocked, just don't remember what I did to unlock them. But a couple haven't been unlocked yet when by the guide and everything else I've seen, they should be unlocked by now. Guess I'll just keep grinding away. For most missions in WO3, you will have to proceed in story mode in order to unlock a side mission which, if completed, unlock a redux missions.

Some are available immediately (for example, Yiling redux is available almost immediately, as the mission that unlocks it, Tetorigawa, is immediately available after normal Yiling), while some are not available for even a full chapter afterwards (Changban redux isn’t unlocked until well into Chapter 4, despite normal Changban being a Chapter 3 mission). Note that side missions, once unlocked, are always available, and that completing a main mission may unlock a side mission that technically belongs in a different chapter - the storyline is already nonlinear as it is. Similar to the redux missions, the fox tail missions act as the redux versions of Chapter 5 missions, and you will need to be several chapters ahead in order to unlock them. There are other side missions as well, which require that you raise bonds between two characters to be at least 1/3 full; these tend to unlock additional characters. You can raise bonds by paying for it at the tea house (but they can’t raise bonds past the 1/3 and 2/3 marks, bringing affected characters to battle, or completing the missions in each battle where they are an NPC). (There are other ways in WO3U involving Gauntlet Mode as well.) It is recommended to complete the missions on a lower difficulty with the recommended team, before deciding on who your main team is, and level them up accordingly.

Remember that you do have bonus EXP you can use to level up your underleveled characters. Almost every character have at least one recommended level. To perform the True Triple Attack, make sure that the corresponding blue gauge is full, then press both trigger buttons (L2+R2 on PS4, LT+RT on Xbox One, ZL+ZR on Wii U and Switch). Then, while the gauge is draining, run around the map and tag any peon that you see; only attack officers. Any peon tagged will die instantly, and depending on the bond level between your characters, offers should take obscene damage (at max bonds, they should die just from getting tagged).
