Resident Evil 4 is in many ways an outstanding game. It is a long, involving, graphically gorgeous action experience, and a wealth of unlockable gameplay modes adds a lot of replay value. But remember that in the Resident Evil universe, ramping up the action means ramping up the gory carnage. Combine this with a splattering of curse words and some sexual innuendo in the cutscene dialogue, and the result is a game that is most definitely for adults and mature teens only.
But it's still pretty amazing.
Many of you have played at least one of the games in the Resident Evil series and have a general feel for how the survival-horror games feel and play out. When announced that they would be releasing, the same lot of you (and us) wondered how an online Resident Evil game would be structured. Capcom has been relatively quiet on the subject, but we have uncovered some new details about the title. In Resident Evil Online, gamers will select one of the eight characters available for play, as will three other human players.
Each unique character will have a separate path in the game, implying that the game does in fact have an episodic structure. There are currently 18 levels planned, each taking roughly two hours (the amount of time that Capcom found to be ideal for an online session) to complete, but this is still subject to change.
Each game session will have a total of eight characters that are actively playing, four human and four CPU controlled. The catch here is that the human players will not know which characters are being controlled by other gamers, and which ones are being controlled by the computer. But can't a player just type in a comment using a keyboard, or use a headset for voice communication?
